A four-year varsity letterman at Edwardsville High School, Drake Westcott emerged as one of the most accomplished prep baseball players in Illinois history.

  • All-Southwestern Conference First Team (2017, 2018, 2019)
  • Two-Time IHSBCA All-State Selection (2018, 2019)
  • 2019 Rawlings All-Region Team Honoree
  • Perfect Game USA Rankings:
    • No. 1 First Baseman in Illinois
    • No. 7 Overall Prospect in Illinois
    • No. 6 Nationally Among First Basemen
  • Illinois PBR All-Decade Team (2010–2019)
     

His power, precision, and presence at the plate made him one of the most respected high school hitters in the Midwest and set the foundation for an extraordinary collegiate career.


Collegiate Excellence – University of Illinois

Drake’s career with the Fighting Illini has been defined by a rare combination of athletic power, leadership, and academic integrity. Over 146 career games, he compiled a .277 batting average, .390 on-base percentage, and .550 slugging percentage, totaling 150 hits, 43 home runs, and 131 RBI—ranking second all-time in Illinois program history for career home runs.

2025 – Redshirt Senior

  • Big Ten All-Tournament Team (1B)
  • Academic All–Big Ten | Dean’s List (4.0 GPA)
  • Appeared in 39 games, starting 35.
  • Posted a .260/.344/.484 slash line with 22 runs, 29 hits, 9 home runs, and 32 RBI.
  • Went 4-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI on April 22 at Indiana State.
  • Homered in both Big Ten Tournament games, batting .500 for the event.
  • Named to the All–Big Ten Tournament Team (2025).

2024 – Redshirt Junior

  • All-Big Ten Third Team | Academic All-Big Ten
  • Big Ten Champion (2024)
  • Started all 55 games, hitting .290 with 11 doubles, 16 home runs, and 52 RBI.
  • Twice named Big Ten Player of the Week for elite offensive production.
  • On April 14 vs. Northern Illinois, became one of two Illini players to hit three home runs in a single game—the first such feat in school history.

2023 – Redshirt Sophomore

  • Slashed .299/.391/.582 across 51 games, leading the team with 18 home runs and 47 RBI.
  • Big Ten Player of the Week (May 8) after hitting .533 with five home runs and 10 RBI in a sweep of Michigan State.
  • Recorded one of the most memorable games in Illini history on May 6, 2023, with three home runs and seven RBI against Michigan State.
